Update #2
The first $2,250 in donations will be matched by the individual members of the BCM Board of Directors, by Prayer Outreach Ministries, and by Ryan Fitzpatrick, Financial Advisor, Edward Jones.
Last year, we distributed food to over 1800 households averaging 2.5 persons per household. A food distribution is designed to provide enough food for 3-4 days. Our cost (out of donated funds) was $7.88 per distribution!
In a time of rising food prices, how did we provide 9-12 meals worth of food to each household for $7.88?
In addition to no-cost USDA food and free donated food from individuals and groups, we purchase low-cost food from the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. To insure that we provide nutritionally balanced meals, we also purchase food from area grocery stores.
So, the bottom line for this fundraiser is: for each $25 donated, we will be able to purchase food for 3 households for 3-4 days.
Bedford Christian Ministries Association was founded in 1984 by 7 Town of Bedford churches and became a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 1996. The Association is currently supported by 25 member churches and several other area churches as well as by individuals and civic associations. Our all-volunteer staff provides food, clothing, household, utility, rent, and vision assistance to Bedford County residents. Services are provided on Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9 AM to 12 Noon.
